What does a doctor, teacher, banker or police officer earn?

Index payments, a 13th salary and premiums: Working in Luxembourg is attractive. The statistics office Statec recently published the average gross annual wages for the different industry. Statec also emphasized that the average annual salary in 2022 was 75,919 euros. All additional services such as premiums or a 13th salary are included.
There are also big differences between the individual industries. An overview:
Banking and compliance
In first place in terms of earnings, professions that are connected to the provision of financial services. Here the average annual salary is 113,018 euros gross, the median content at 93,843 euros (median content means: half earns more, the other half earns less, editor’s note). According to the Paylab wage portal, the monthly content in banking is between 4,177 and 9,844 euros.

If you look at individual professions in this field, there are large differences in earning. A private banker earns an average of almost 8,700 euros a month, says the job portal Indeed. A specialist in the field of compliance up to 10,484 euros, depending on the operation and profile. A customer representative receives up to 5,179 euros and a financial advisor 6,252 euros.
Teacher and educator
Professions in the educational sector are close to jobs in the financial sector when it comes to good salary. According to Statec, the average annual salary is 111,362 euros gross. The median content for this category, which is not far from the average salary at 108,929 euros, should be emphasized. According to the official salary table, teachers earn 7,052 euros per month at the beginning of the career. With every additional year professional experience, this amount increases. In this way, the wages increased to just under 8,400 euros for five years of experience, after nine years it is around 9,000 euros.

According to Paylab, an educator earns an average of between 2,077 and 5,635 euros, a lecturer at the university receives between 2,416 and 6,183 euros. The content of a professor is particularly high, who gets between 5,183 and 12,869.

Police officers and civil servants
There are also activities in the civil service high up in the salary ranking. A wide -ranging category with an average annual salary of 100,458 euros.
For example, there is the profession of the police officer. The content is based on the individual grade. At the start of their careers, a police officer receives 3,526 euros in grade C1 and just under 4,275 euros in level B1. In addition, there are allowances, for example for shift work, or meal grants. The salary increases with additional professional years.

More wages for hundreds of police officers and soldiers with Abitur
IT and communication
Information technology is becoming increasingly important in the various companies, even with increasing presence of artificial intelligence. According to the evaluation of Statec, the gross annual salary was an average of 79,881 euros in 2022. It is not far below that an computer scientist’s reward is.
Indeed writes that a computer scientist receives around 74,223 euros a year, which corresponds to around 6,200 euros per month. Paylab’s figures show that, for example, the job of a programmer (up to 9,776 euros), game developer (up to 8,475 euros) or a web designer (up to 6,417 euros) are well -paid professions.
Medical field
For health and social affairs, Statec reports an average annual wage of 77,695 euros gross. The profession of the doctor, which, according to information from Indeed, also earns an average of 9,100 euros. PayAB adds that the minimum content of a doctor is 4,358 euros and the highest average value is around 9,900 euros. Furthermore, the Paylab wage portal publishes more wages: a nurse receives up to 6,553 euros, physiotherapists up to 5,200 euros and pharmacists up to 7,500 euros.

Pilot and sailor
The transport sector ends up in the ranking under the healthcare system. In this area, the average wage is 66,401 euros, as Statec holds. By far the best paid profession in this area is that of the pilot. Paylab writes a wage of at least 5,500 euros and up to 20,100 euros per month. Cargolux, for example, discloses the entry -level salaries on their website. At the beginning of the pilot career at Cargolux and depending on the professional experience, a junior first officer earns 6,090 euros and a senior first officer 7,175 euros a month.
In the case of flight attendants, the earnings are between 3,536 euros and 6,142 euros per month, analyzes Paylab.

If you look at another area of logistics, the content of a sailor stands out. According to Paylab, this is between 6,115 euros and 12,241 euros per month.
Legal
« Professions around the law are paid very well in Luxembourg, this applies in particular to the profession of the lawyer, » writes Indeed and holds a monthly content of over 13,900 euros for this profession. Paylab also determines high salaries of up to 11,500 euros for a lawyer. A notary receives up to 11,400 euros per month, according to Paylabs average calculation.
With a little less, legal advisors (2,900 to an average of 8,300 euros) or bailiffs (up to 5,900 euros) must be content. In the free economy, unlike the state, the amount of salaries is freely negotiable as long as they are above the statutory minimum wage. In many companies, collective agreements apply. So it may be that two people who practice the same profession are paid differently, depending on education and professional experience. There are also clear salary differences within companies: a machine operator in the factory, for example, can expect 2,400 euros; The engineer in the same factory receives double or even more.
