What do Americans think of the war in Ukraine? – The world

What do Americans think of the war in Ukraine, Russia, NATO? Who do they trust Volodimir with Green or Vladimir Putin? The answers to these questions often depend on whether the surveyed supports Republicans or Democrats.

Three years since the beginning of Russian aggression on Ukraine, the American Pew Research Center

He conducted public opinion research in which he asked adult Americans what they think of the war in Ukraine, Russia, as well as NATO. Survey results conducted from 24. to 30. March 2025. On a sample of 3,605 Americans classifies in three groups: all Americans, Republicans and their supporters, and democrats and their supporters. Here are some of some of the key research results.

Do they now have the responsibility to help Ukraine?

One of the questions in the survey was that now they have the responsibility to help Ukraine in defense from Russia. Democrats and Republicans, like those who feel close to one or the other, were also divided by the issue – and that division is more and more pronounced. It is similar when it comes to the level of concerns due to the possible consequences of the conflict.

Most Americans (53 percent) believe that the United States has no responsibility to help Ukraine in defense from Russia, while 44 percent consider the opposite – that now they have that responsibility.

This shows that the opinion of Americans changed in recent months. Because, in the survey of November 2024. Immediately after the presidential elections in the United States – 50 percent of Americans considered that the United States had the responsibility to help Ukraine in defense from Russia.

Two-thirds of democrats and independent voters who leans democrats believe that the United States should help Ukraine in defense, compared to only 23 percent of Republicans and those who tend to republications.

Almost seven of the ten Americans (69 percent) believe that the war between Russia and Ukraine is important for the National Interests of the United States.

Almost half of Americans (47 percent) is extremely or very worried that Russia could attack other countries, and 43 percent are concerned that Russia could win and take control of Ukraine. The Republicans have become less worried about both possibilities in recent months, while the Democrats have become worried.

Who really stands for peace: Tramp, Putin, Green or Macron?

The survey was asked and asked – how old President Donald Tramp, French President Emanuel Macron, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodimir Green dedicated to lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Most Americans (59 percent) believe that green is dedicated to permanent peace, while only 19 percent say the same for Putin. Less than half (47 percent) believe that tramp is dedicated to peace, and 45 percent say it for the macrons.

Attitude toward Russia

The vast majority of Americans still have a more or less negative attitude towards Russia: as much as 85 percent of them. However, the share of those who have a distinctly negative attitude towards Russia decreased.

When the question is asked whether Russia is an enemy, rival or partner now, half of them (50 percent) corresponds to the land to be enemy, which is declining compared to 2024. When that share was 61 percent. As a rival, he sees 38 percent Americans, and as a partner only 9 percent.

The republic of the Republican said that Russia is an enemy – decreased to 40 percent, while the year it was still 58 percent. In the same period, the share of Democrats and voters who tilt democrats see as an enemy reduced by 5 percentage points for 5 percentage points.

Green and Putin as politicians

Americans have divided opinions about green, just a few weeks after his controversial visit to the White House, during which he was discussed and brawled about American support in Ukraine in the war.

When it comes to asking whether green or Putin will act properly in connection with world issues – 49 percent of Americans have confidence in Ukrainian president voliodimir green. Democrats are significantly more often expressed in the countryside than the Republicans (70% to 30%).

The confidence of Americans in the Russian president remains at a very low level: only 12 percent has some confidence in Putin to make proper decisions in international affairs, while 84 percent have little or no trust in his lead.

Attitudes about NATO

When it comes to the NATO’s attitude of Americans does not change, and differences between the parties on that issue are old.

Most Americans (60 percent) have a positive opinion of NATO. As before, the Democrats (77%) are much more prone to have a positive attitude about military alliance compared to Republicans (45%).

About two thirds of Americans (66%) believe that the United States benefits from NATO membership, although this share is slightly smaller than 2021. when it amounted to 71%. This decline is reflected in the Republicans (decline for 6 points), while the views between the Democrats remained stable.
