Welcomes experienced pope
David B. Tencer, Bishop of the Catholic Church in Iceland, is very pleased with the new Pope, Leo XIV.
In a conversation with mbl.is, he says it is comforting that a new pope has experience of the bishop’s work, but Leo was previously Archbishop of Peru. Two years ago, he was then chosen by Pope Francis to choose the next generation of bishops.
« Experience that allows him to understand everyone »
When asked, David is rejoicing in the new pope, especially because of his experience from previous jobs.
« He was a commander in the Bishop’s Department, he was the Cardinal that was responsible for her. Thus he knows primarily many bishops around the world, but he also knows what it is like to be a bishop because he was a bishop himself in Peru.
This is an experience that allows him to understand everyone, not just the people around him, ”says David.
Pope Leo has experience of the bishop’s work. He was previously an Archbishop of Peru, but two years ago he was selected by Pope Francis to choose the next generation of bishops.

Like a response from Leo Pope
David says everyone in the Bishop’s Office has watched the broadcast from Vatican, talked and prayed together. A great enthusiasm has prevailed among the group.
« During the broadcast, I thought » what can we do for him? « , » Says David, pointing out that it is not easy to be Pope today.
« At the same time, Leo himself said in the broadcast » Pray for me « . It was like a response to the speculation. «
When David watched the broadcast from Vatican, he thought what he could do for Pope Leo, at that moment, the newly elected Pope said « praying for me ».
