Weirdness around the distribution of public funding for sports events / day

The Athletics Federation had compiled and submitted applications to the seven major running events for the competition. Funding has not been granted to none of them.

The competition regulations stipulate that there is a very wide range of events and competitions for maximum funding – up to 40 thousand euros per recipient. As a result, big folk sports events, international elite sports events, children’s and youth sports competitions and even comprehensive school programs « Sporto the whole class » compete in one competition.

The criteria are separated – one table is allocated to the competition and the other for events. But with which the competition is different from sporting events, there is no clearly defined. For example, the running series « Stirnu Buks » and MTB Cycling Marathons have not received public funding this year.

Taking into account that places are divided into places, they are qualified as competitions. And the criteria for the competition provide for a higher score of international broadcasts, a large number of Member States, several days and minimal or non -existent membership fees. Completely contrary to the specifics of folk sports.

« It is difficult to make the by -laws of the same. But (applying for) public funding must have all the same conditions. And there is more to talk about the funding that is intended for competitions and measures, an additional 416 thousand euros – we receive applications of € 5 million. Samoilov.

He believes that in the future, the bidders should be economized in the distribution of public funding and that each category applies the criteria. Vladimir Steinberg, the head of the Latvian Sports Federation Council, is in similar thoughts. In his view, all sources of national sports funding, including from other ministries and state institutions, must be combined in a joint sports financing system:

« Systemically, create individual criteria for different levels of measures and separate investment models within one large system. Then everyone will be clear. The MoES promises to publish the results of the competition within two weeks, as well as the results of last year. The ministry is also open to the discussion on the rules and criteria for the next competitions.
