We watched ‘Duster’: You are great bizarre characters from the American South of the 70’s, just not to disappoint …

Duster/Max; Rating: 7.5/10

Extremely entertaining series about gangsters in the US South in the 70’s. I would say – just a real summer series for one pleasant weekend when it’s too hot. What is really well done in the series are a picture and costume design, AI « Feeling » for the feeling (even some screenplay and film procedures deliberately imitate movies and series from the 70’s), for the 1970s, but without much lamenting about the old good or old terrible times.

Is great in the lead role Josh Holloway. Most audience known as Sawyer from the series « Lost ». In short, Josh Holloway plays a driver for a local gangster, and a new FBI agent is coming, a young African American who recruits him or, better to say with him, « Deal » to be her informant. He agrees primarily to discover that his brother, whose death may have been killed, maybe not, may not be responsible for his mafia boss.

It would be briefly the action, but if it were not thought to be right – with the basic story there are really many other, episodic stories, so many eccentric and peculiar characters, which in most cases are interpreted by actors known from countless series and films. And in doing so, this is evident, enjoying that game and interpreting bizarre characters from the US South in the 70’s.

Although the series touches racism, which is in America and in that part of America in those years, even almost « normal », although it touches on Vietnam, women’s rights, corruption, it is all natural and unobtrusive and in most cases very spiritually incorporated into the series.

In addition to Josh Hollowaya, another link to « Lost » is one of the main screenwriters and author of the JJ Abrams series. This is, as it would be in Vic, good and bad news. Abrams’ way of building characters and plot is really extremely good, I would say top -notch.

What is also excellent is the reconstruction of time, which is practically from the first episode « Duster » Look, you almost Spilberg’s way of telling the story and seduction of the audience. That would be good news. What could be problematic, and only half of the series is shown, is that almost all Abrams projects fall in the second half, that is, in the end.

Sometimes it is just a small break in the quality of the construction of the plot, and sometimes it is almost catastrophically and disappointing. But looking at the not particularly complicated plot and good way in which the audience is « forced » to identify and cheer for the characters, he would have to really make screenplay « acrobatics without legitimacy » to ruin the series.
