« Most of the time we call »: Alexander Pröll, State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery and government coordinator of the ÖVP. Clemens Fabry

The press: What does a State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery actually need?

Alexander Pröll: If you like, I am the adjutant of the Federal Chancellor who keeps his back on him. Specifically, I am responsible for the coordination. This is almost the government’s machine room, in which it is decided how to proceed.

And how does that work?

In principle, every agreement is about the coordination. I see that we have an agreement first. And then there is a long session with the colleagues Michaela Schmidt from the SPÖ and Armin Hübner from the Neos, in which we discuss the content that was coordinated in the individual parties. We three with the employees and the club guards. This is then negotiated and decided the next day in the Council of Ministers, if there is an agreement.

You also chat with Schmidt and Hübner, if so, how?

Yes, about signal. But mostly we make calls.

And the signal channel is safety-tested.
