– we want a warmer Alta
How can volunteerism, professional education and municipal planning meet in health -promoting and preventive work?
During a study week, child welfare and social workers and social workers have been active contributors in public health work during a study week.
Through concrete input to the public health coordinator, they have contributed with both insight, dedication and new perspectives. At the same time, students experience what cross -sectoral public health work entails in practice.
Public health work
Public health work is about promoting quality of life, well -being and mastery in the population – not only through health services, but through targeted social strategies. It is about preventing social and health inequalities and facilitating safe, warm, inclusive and health -promoting communities. According to the Public Health Act, municipalities must promote public health through all their sectors, with emphasis on structural and population -oriented measures.
Concrete input
Part of the specific input is: Leisure offers for 5-7. Classes, mecca workshop, neighborhood initiative, activities that private individuals can initiate-where the municipality’s buildings can be used, funds for equipment for activities, information on voluntary services in schools-all this mainly run by volunteers-are the students’ input. Maybe some of this can also contribute to the prevention of violence in schools?
Public health work is about mobilizing resources – both the professional and those found in the population. By involving students and volunteers as active participants, we open up to more inclusive and rooted processes. It helps to strengthen the local community as a whole, and gives the future child welfare educators and social workers a clear understanding of how their professional role can also be health -promoting.
We look forward to developing this collaboration!
