We used this old nostalgia
Entrepreneurship is taught in Verslo and from the kids from that phase, many great ideas that have now been implemented. Two girls and three boys formed the company Hjartorg and have had enough to turn around designing and putting in the production of children’s play which has been named Reykjavík Mat, which includes the land of Reykjavik. Ólafur Árni Gizurarson, Iðunn Ingvarsdóttir, Hrafnhildur Tinna Brynjólfsdóttir, Sigurður Karl Knútsson and Gylfi Þór Hassing attended Lunch this week to tell about the project.
Inspiration from a car mat
The five young people are graduating this spring from a digital business track. They say the entrepreneurial phase is the most fun but also the most challenging course they have taken in Verslo.
« In this entrepreneurial phase, we had to create and develop a product, or service, and put it on the market. We created the company Hjartorg and are creating children’s play mats that reflect the environment and landmarks in Iceland, » says Hrafnhildur.
Here you can see a computer image of the mat good. There you can see the main landmarks of the City of Reykjavik.
« The inspiration is obtained from an old mat; a car mat, which many had and remember.
« We did a marketing study at the beginning of the course and there were over 90% who knew the car mat and were willing to see a new remake of it, » says Gylfi.
Let’s give 25% of the proceeds
« Our first rug is the Reykjavik Mat with the main landmarks from the city center, but our vision is that people can customize their own rug. That is the main idea, » says Iðunn, mentioning that it will hopefully be able to customize such rugs, even with pictures or landmarks from other towns.
Ólafur designed the drawings that are on the mat and were then manufactured in the United States.
« We have a product in Smáralind April 5 and then people can come and ask questions and get to see a real copy of the mat, but it is open 11-18. There we will have a booth, » says Sigurdur, but the kids will then be able to receive the orders. You can also order a playwright on the website Hjartaborg.com and on social media under the name Heart. City. The mat costs ISK 14,990.
« We also have copies of the mat for sale and we intend to donate 25% of the proceeds to the Children’s Hospital. We wanted to give something of us, » says Iðunn.
The youngsters in the Sunday newspaper Morgunbladid are discussed in more detail this weekend.
