We have six nominations for a journalistic price
The winners’ names will announce 20 May 2025.
The journalistic prize published all nominations for the work of journalists for 2024.
Up to 165 journalists and journalists from 44 Slovak editors entered the 21st year. Almost 500 contributions are nominated in ten categories.
The winners’ names will be found at the awards ceremony, which will take place on 20 May 2025 in the Old Market in Bratislava.
You will be able to watch the whole event through online stream on channels Journalistic prizes and Open Society Foundation.
However, you can see the nominated work of the editors of the SME daily today.
Reportage (written journalism)
Lukáš Onderčanin was nominated for an article in which he discusses censorship on TVP, Polish, as politicians imagine control of the public service media and silent journalists about the cases of the Polish government.

Investigative Journalism (written and audiovisual)
Soňa Jánošová and Kristýna Peštová are nominated for an article in which they reveal how Ilonka Damborská from Kopčany in Záhorie is dubious collections and implementing enriches unsuspecting people.
Podcast
The creators of the satirical podcast Friday are nominated for the episode of the Presidential Special (Feat. Candidates). In the episode you listen to the records of phone calls with Presidential candidatesto ask the same poll questions. The work of the podcast is Kristína Janščová, Kristína Gyuríková, Adam Blaško, Viktor Hlavatovič.
Zuzana Kovačič Hanzelová, Marek Franko, Jana Maťková are nominated for the Podcast Miniserium Good morning: Presidents.
History has shown that the presidential function can be built, faced with terrible pressures, but it can also be sailed without any problems if you decide to not detach government power. In 31 years we had six presidents – including the current Petr Pellegrini. Each episode from the series is devoted to a different of the Presidents of the Slovak Republic.

Regional journalism
Lenka Haniková from Korzár daily, which is part of SME, was nominated for an article in which she informs about the suspicion that the municipality of Raslavice received subsidies for the construction of a multifunctional playground. However, according to local residents, the playground does not actually exist and photographs used as evidence are reportedly photomontage. The mayor claims that the course was temporarily built, but had to dismantle it for technical problems, which raises doubts about the transparency of the whole project.
Comment (written journalism)
Ján Füle, an external contributor of the SME daily, is nominated for a comment in which MUDr. Visolajsky for his participation in the Infovojna program, which the author perceives as a propaganda medium abusing the form of traditional media for spreading manipulation.
Ján Füle challenges the legitimacy of such a doctor’s behavior in the context of alternative platforms and draws attention to dangerous parallels in statements.
