We have been trained by US allies
The Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, has announced the creation of the cyber command and liaison as a historic moment for Albania’s defense in the digital age during a solemn ceremony attended by senior representatives of the state and international allies.
He emphasized that cyber security is a strategic component in national defense, recalling the 2022 cyber attacks that hit Albanian institutions. « In a digital world, the protection of cyber space is as important as the protection of the country’s territorial integrity, »-The Minister said, describing command as a structure that responds firmly to new security challenges.
At the top of this command is General Hamdi Doda, a long -experienced figure in the Armed Forces. The minister announced that the establishment of this command is the result of a five -year process, strongly supported by Albania’s strategic allies, headed by the United States.
« The new command comes with a contemporary and dynamic approach, but also with a valid legacy, as the first liaison elements in the Armed Forces have been established since 1931, »-Vangu declared.
