« We don’t see this as answers »
It is expected that the football club Viking will not receive the clear and clear answers that the company requested from the City of Reykjavik last week. The preferred deadline for responding expires today. « Of course we hope that something will come from them today, » says Haukur Hinriksson, Managing Director of the Viking Football Association, in a conversation with mbl.is.
The football club Viking sent a letter to the City of Reykjavik on May 21, demanding a larger business area for the company. It also states that the City of Reykjavik has repeatedly neglected the city’s promise to the company for the expansion of the business area.
The expansion of the Viking premises was to begin in 2016 when a lease agreement with the Green Center Mörk expires on a plot of land in area at Stjörnugróf 18.
No particular time frame
Haukur says Viking has received mail a week ago where the city has considered it necessary more time, but no certain time frame has been mentioned.
« The mayor contacted and said the city needed more time to answer the assignment, but nothing was mentioned about how long the city would be needed or when the Culture and Sports Council would contact us. »
The company responded that these answers were not sufficient and reiterated its claim for clear and unequivocal answers. « We do not consider this to be answered, » says Haukur.
In the City of Reykjavik’s response to mbl.is, the matter is being processed and that the city has requested longer deadlines.
« We will have to decide on a further step, but if we get no answers, we need to respond quickly – preferably on Monday, » says Haukur.
