We cannot evaluate the fish how she climbed onto a tree
The teacher of practical instruction in the field of computer science of the Secondary School of Chemistry, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Celje School Center is not just a teacher. He is a mentor and a big fan, and his work does not end in class. It encourages students to do the various projects they work for the market. Because they learn the most through projects, the evaluation as we know it today would abolish.
Matic Holobar he really hit with the choice of profession. I would do everything for students, but at the same time, students respect him. This is not so taken for granted, especially in secondary schools, where everything is hormone. “The best motivation is the teacher himself. I see myself more and more as a mentor, given that I like to include students in projects. When you come to the class and tell what you do in addition to classes, it attracts them sooner. ”He also deals with photography, programming robots for businesses, and has also participated in two films.
But his first passion is teaching. « Being a teacher is some of the most beautiful things that can happen to me because every day I do a profession where I look at young people, how they grow up, develop, and can give them a part of myself to have a better tomorrow. » He started working with young people very early. In elementary school, he was at camps, quickly becoming a guide there, monitoring and inspiring young people gave him a heart.

He has worked with students for four years, grew up before his eyes. “In my first year, I perform a little sharper, and by the fourth year we are already forming a friendly bond for a moment. It can be seen that they are already adults at the time, to start accepting responsibility. They are aware that they will be able to or on the labor market or study. ”Proposals for graduates that professional graduates for university studies would have three more general graduates for university studies. “If we are a vocational school, let’s give the profession an advantage. I don’t think it’s fair to compete with high school students. Our students shine in professional subjects. «
An outstanding practice
When you listen to what they do in classes, it is quickly clear why they shine. Because through various projects where they are looking for solutions for real problems in practice, they not only learn but also understand. His students imagine the project in their first year, then they upgrade it every year. “When they complete the task, it is immediately suitable or on the market or can be used on their own, for example, to make websites. We do practical, real examples and learn based on this. «

Ideas usually offer the market. “Years ago, we made a car simulator that was bought to ZSAM Celje. We also made an additional simulator for our school for service activities and logistics, when it was divorced, we worked with another driving school. The whole class does not participate in such projects, but students who want something more. They answer themselves. We also made a virtual apiary for the Beekeeping Association of Slovenia. The goal was to present and bring beekeeping to the people who were afraid of bees, and in a virtual apiary there is no danger of being pissed off. «
They also work a lot with companies. They are currently negotiating with one of the pilot project companies in Celje to take selected students to a company in which they acquire practical knowledge directly in the field instead of teaching. “In the past, we have already done this with Pivovarna Laško, our mentor went next to us, controlled them. They learned what you would learn in classes at different tools at the brewery. We also cooperate a lot with the Noordung Center, Technopark … «

Project work to evaluate
Even when they do not go out of school and stay in the classroom, learning is far from dry. They also associate a lot with other objects. For example, the NAA robot learned incorrect verbs. “The teacher can take him to class and ask students instead of her. We are also involved in chemistry, we also meet an interactive quiz, we have made a game for VR (virtual reality), where they can ‘mix’ certain substances to learn what is going on and what is not going together. If something explodes in VR, this is great, but not exactly in the lab. ”He also encourages students in research assignments as well Young for Celje. “We only have sixteen to twenty each year at our school. Within this, they develop ideas, refine. «
It is precisely because he sees how many students learn in these projects, the assessment as we know today would abolish. If it was, each teacher would get five to ten students at the beginning of the school year and together they would do one project all year long. “Slovenian would be evaluated by how they wrote documentation, mathematics based on the formulas used, they could do a specific application for geography with locations … Therefore, students would be evaluated on the basis of practical knowledge, and general knowledge would be introduced on an ongoing basis. Today, we certainly can no longer evaluate the fish about how it climbed the tree, as Einstein said. This has to stop slowly. «

Where is computer science?
Mostly young people who like to play games come to their school. They are a little disappointed to find that they start from zero at school, so how the computer is assembled, what we need to play games. All this could be taught in elementary school, but except for rare exceptions, they come to the computer science school almost without a background. He says that the compulsory subject of computer science and informatics in elementary school would certainly not hurt, and even in high schools, something should change. “The phone is different every year, and the school system is still the same. Only the green board was replaced by white and the graphoscope was replaced by a projector. The way work is the same. We should work more with companies, have exchanges there, teachers should be educated themselves to make it easier to follow the innovations. ”The school system is changing too slowly. For example, artificial intelligence is not (yet) in mandatory learning content, and is taught in an open curriculum.
Everyone is a genius. However, if you evaluate the fish according to her ability to climb the tree, she will be sure she is stupid all her life.
Albert Einstein
In addition, young people need more encouragement. Sometimes they give them an unsolvable task that finds a mistake sooner, and the work stops. “When I ask them why they didn’t go ahead, they say they didn’t work. Why didn’t she work? And I get the answer that it didn’t work. They don’t have this in themselves to investigate why something doesn’t work, what’s wrong. Sometimes they even forget that artificial intelligence or classmates just have to ask if this has happened to you too. I see a big problem here. Lack of motivation. «

He strives for himself with things that are close to young people. With games, typo, videos. “I do not know if it is right for us to always come to them, that they have almost no more effort, or it would be better to try their best for knowledge. I am comforted that it is better to approach them with their way, because the technology will only go. It won’t go back. ”So allow students to write artificial intelligence code. “If the student understands her, I have no problem with that. But he needs to know what’s in front of him, why this works. Then he has to know how to help her. «
After a long time, six girls have a total of six girls at school, three in each class. “They are quite stubborn, they know what class they will come to, and the boys they send. However, it is a pity that fewer girls are in professional professions because they are more systematic, more precise, structured when looking programming. Last but not least, the first program in the world was written by a woman. So the first was a programmar. We want more in technical professions. ” “It’s a little more drama. Some sympathy occurs, but they must be loud, sometimes they have to have the last word. They add pleasant dynamics. «
I’m a teacher! I’m a teacher! It is a project in which we present teachers who feel their profession as a mission. We want to get more respect, support and reputation, which they also deserve. We trust them the most we have – our children and thus the future of our families and society. You can also help us find the best teachers.
Do you know a teacher for whom his profession is a life mission? Do you know a teacher who does something more and can get it out of students? Are you a teacher who loves her work and looking for innovative teaching ways? Are you a teacher who is aware that it is most important to encourage children to become better people? You can find the application form on the website ucitljemem.siand briefly answer the questions. You can also send it to [email protected] or by post to AmCham Slovenia, Vienna 167, 1000 Ljubljana (with a campaign attribution I’m a teacher! I’m a teacher!).
