Most of the work will be done in the summer, when the weather conditions are favorable and when the least load is in traffic due to school holidays and the use of annual vacations. Some work will be necessary throughout the year, according to the city, since they require longer lasting procedures because of their scope as a reconstruction of 3.

The city also published a website with details and plans that could make it easier for citizens to inform and plan the trip when performing infrastructure work on city roads. It is an interactive map available to all citizens who for the first time in one place combines increasing works that will begin after the school year end.

Replacement of tram stripes near the pond

One of the bigger projects takes place in the center of the city, not far from the popular Ribnjak park. A tram railway is renovated 1.5 kilometers long, from Vlaska to Gršković Street. The works begin on June 15 and will last until September. Since the railway has not been renovated for almost thirty years, significantly quieter traffic on that road is expected. In addition to the rails, the roadway will be repaired, which will get the whole area a new, more modern look.

And the Xavier Road, slightly north of the construction site mentioned above, enters the complete renovation phase. A total of 1,826 meters of tram stripes between Matija Jandrić Street and Mihaljevac Nadutiza will be replaced by September 8, which will improve the safety and comfort of public transport on that traffic route.

Closed traffic between Mandalina and St. Spirit

The western part of Ilica, one of Zagreb’s most frequent streets, is coming to a new phase of reconstruction – this time it is a replacement of a worn out water supply pipeline. The works will be performed on the section from Mandalina to the Holy Spirit, and the whole move will be closed for motor vehicles during the procedure.

Tram traffic will also be temporarily affected: lines 2, 6 and 11 will suspend traffic on weekends only as needed, in order to minimize the impact on the daily movement of citizens. The start of the works is expected next week, and the planned completion is scheduled for the beginning of September.

The next point of summer works leads us to Savica, where the extensive renewal of the third level of the road loop from the east direction towards Novi Zagreb. The works will last a full year, and will cover the complete replacement of the fences, the installation of a new asphalt layer and the renewal of load -bearing columns and steel lining of the structure.

In parallel, in July, it is also expanding to the area of Vukovar Street. From July 7 to July 13, the southern roadway will be closed by the street of Vukovar in the east -west direction, while tram traffic will function normally. It is a replacement of a complex tram switch system in the southwestern part of the intersection – an important procedure that will increase the safety and flow of tram through this traffic hub.

The Sarajevo street is spreading

The traffic -loaded Selska road enters the reconstruction phase – the western roadway is closed in the south direction between Ozaljska and Zagorska Street due to works on low -pressure pipelines and home connections in the length of 1,500 meters. Drivers will operate two -way on the east side of the roadway, with expected retention.

On the other side of the city, in the Maksimir neighborhood, works on the silverns are brought to an end. By the middle of the month, the pipeline renovation is planned, followed by the paving of the whole route – which means the end of the dug street and the return of normal traffic.

In the west of the city, without the exact date of the beginning, there is also a northern roadway between Ferdinand Budicka and Petrovaradin Street, where traffic will be diverted.

The end west receives a new layer of asphalt – Alley of Bologna will be renovated on the northern strips, from Scorpikova to the Prignica. The works begin on Monday and it is predicted to last about a month.

Finally, good news for the inhabitants of Dugava is coming. Sarajevo road finally goes into expansion! The project includes a full profile with as many as three traffic lanes in each direction, a tram railway and a pedestrian and bicycle paths on both sides – a real infrastructure procedure that will significantly relieve traffic towards Novi Zagreb.

Work all over the city

The eastern part of Zagreb will also be under the siege of machines this summer. Although the exact date or duration of the works is not yet known for some locations, Dubrava residents will soon be able to breathe – asphalting the stock from Grižanska to Dankovec is nearing its end and should be almost until the 20th of June.

One of the significant infrastructure interventions refers to the overpass on Ljubljana Avenue. There is a reconstruction that will last for a full six months. To alleviate the impact on traffic, the city will provide a temporary two -lane road in each direction.

In the eastern part of the city, there is also a replacement of worn steel low -pressure pipelines with modern polyethylene pipes. The works extend from Borongaj Street, near the former airport, all the way to Savudrijski. Upon completion of gas works, a full paving of the road is also planned. The start of the procedure is scheduled by the end of June, and the completion by September – just in time to start the school year.

Even the city center will not be spared. As of Monday, the paving of the streets of Ljudevit Posavski, Banjavčićeva and Zavrtnica begins, and the reconstruction of several roundabouts in the vicinity of Radnička has been announced. The streets will occasionally close, depending on the stages of the work – drivers will need an extra dose of patience.

Asphalt in multiple locations

On the Veljeslav Holjevac Avenue, between Mladost Street and the turn for the overpass towards the Great Road, there is a complete renovation of the roadway. In parallel, the Utinjska street will be paved, on the section between Radmanovac and Savski Gaj XIII. Although the exact start of the works is not listed, it is clear that the works will take place during the summer months.

On Branimir Street, one of the key traffic routes of the east of the city, a larger procedure is expected in September. The new layer of asphalt is planned on the section from Javor to R. Škrnjuga, in the east direction. For now, there is no information on possible transitions of traffic, but the procedure is expected to be organized with minimal disorders.

In the end, it is worth singing out two more important roads that will receive a new asphalt layer – Zagreb Road and part of Scorpikova Street. Although the exact terms have not been published, it is clear that these locations will also be affected by the works within the great summer traffic renovation.

Heizel Street will also be expanded, on the move between Slavonian Avenue and Donja Svetica Street. The works begin during July, and the City said that there are no major difficulties – traffic should take place in both directions throughout the duration of the works.

On Slavonian avenue, however, the installation of left turns at III Street is envisaged. Resnik, and will further reconstruct a tram switch at the key intersection of the street of Vukovar and Marin Držić Avenue. Although tram traffic remains unobstructed, the traffic of passenger vehicles will be partially limited – it will be prevented from passing the northern roadway of the Vukovar Street from the east to the west.

This rounds out a list of 23 traffic locations where significant infrastructure interventions will be performed in Zagreb this summer.
