We blocked 18.5 tons of chicken fillet with salmonella imported from Brazil


The National Food Authority has blocked a large amount of chicken imported from Brazil which resulted in the presence of Salmonella typhimurium. It is learned that the blocked load is 18.5 tons.

In the context of transparency and public information, as well as in order to guarantee food safety and consumer health protection, the National Food Authority has taken a series of immediate and structured measures to address a situation identified a few days ago during the process of control of food products imported into the port of Durres.

Referring to ISUV analysis on 21.03.2025, for the presence of Salmonella typhimurium in a chicken product (frozen fillet), imported from Brazil, the NFA has intervened in a coordinated manner with the structures responsible for tracking, verifying and blocking the product in question, as well as for taking administrative and legal measures to the responsible subject.

The importing entity for tracking traceability, which was referred to the Tirana Judicial District Prosecutor’s Office, has been inspected for further procedural actions in terms of the elements of the offense for failing to comply with traceability criteria and giving incorrect information.

The National Food Authority assures the public that the situation is in constant pursuit and that any action has been taken in the function of transparency, safety and protection of citizens’ health.

For any further development, the NFA will continue to inform correctly and responsibly.
