« We are on the right way, » says the Russian president about negotiations with Ukraine
The president of Russia said on Monday that he resumes him from negotiations with Ukraine « is on the good way, » at the end of a call of more than two hours with the US homologist.
« Contacts between participants in Istanbul’s negotiations have resumed, and this allows us to assume that we are generally on the good way, » Vladimir Putin told journalists after the call.
Donald Trump and Putin talked for more than two hours after the White House said that the US leader “was frustrated” with the conflict and planned a separate phone call with the Ukrainian leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, hoping to progress to a ceasefire in the war in Ukraine.
Putin assured that he is available to work to end the conflict in Ukraine and that it is in favor of a “peaceful solution”, recognizing that commitments that are pleased with both parties will be needed.
The Russian President described the conversation with Trump as « frank and significant. »
Prior to the call with Putin, Trump had already telephone with Zelensky, and in a social truth publication, he wrote that Ukraine and Russia will start « immediately » negotiations for a ceasefire.
The US president said Russians and Ukrainians will begin to negotiate « immediately with a view to a ceasefire and, more importantly, ending the war. »
« I think it went very well, » Trump said about the call, revealing that « the tone and spirit of the conversation were excellent. »
Donald Trump also said that he agrees that Russia will “make a large -scale trade with the United States” after the end of the “catastrophic ‘blood bath’” in Ukraine and that Kremlin wants it to happen.
« Russia has a huge opportunity to create large amounts of employment and wealth. Its potential is unlimited. Likewise, Ukraine can be a great beneficiary of trade in the process of reconstruction of its country, » he added.
Trump also said that he spoke on the phone with Volodymyr Zelensky and European allied leaders, including European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, and Finland President Alexander Stubb.
« The Vatican, represented by the Pope, stated that he would be very interested in welcoming the negotiations. That begins the process! » He concluded.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the creation of a “permanent and expanded national team of negotiations” dedicated to talks with Russia in a Facebook post this morning.
« Ukraine does not fear direct conversations with Russia and it is important that the Russian leaders do not prolong the war, » said the leader, who also insisted « the need for a total and unconditional ceasefire in order to save human lives and to establish the necessary foundations for diplomacy. »
« This ceasefire must be long enough and include the possibility of extension. Our proposal, shared by our partners, is 30 days-we are ready for it, » he added.
