« We said at the last national meeting, two and a half years ago, that that meeting would mark a turning point in the history of party and nation. And here we are. We announced changes. And now we are leading changes. First in the party and then in government. »

This was stated by Kristrún Frostadóttir, chairman of the Social Democratic Alliance and Prime Minister, in her speech at the National Assembly of the Social Democratic Alliance today.

Kristrún said that the Democratic Alliance had plans that are currently being implemented, but they have been shaped in a major conversation with the public. She said the Social Democratic Party was back in the right place, firmly with the nation and finally in the lead with the national government after eleven long years in opposition.

Work on long -lasting victories for the people

« We know that the project is by no means completed. The work is about to begin and we will continue to shape our party, so we achieve the most success – based on our ideals and values ​​of freedom, equality and solidarity.

She also said that the Social Democratic Party is working humility and respect for the party’s clients.

« We carry the red rose and flags of Iceland to reminders of who we serve – not ourselves but Iceland and all those who live here, working people, wherever they join class and play and work. We are not a club about private interests or private interests.

At the end of his speech, Kristrún said that the Social Democratic Party will be judged by its work and how the group is going to perform the interests of working people.

She said that the prerequisite for the politicians’ politics will be given the exchange rate, if the issues that are closest to the people will be addressed.
