« I have sometimes pointed out to people that when we choose a woman for the first time, or do something for the first time, it is an exception to the rule. But when we do it for the second time, we may be making it a new criterion or a new norm. »
This is stated by Halla Tómasdóttir, the seventh president of the Republic, in an interview with the ancient Grand Hotel in the heart of Oslo, at Karl Jóhannsgata, at the beginning of their visit to her husband Björn Skúlason to Norway, the so -called state visit, which is the supreme form of diplomatic.
The aim of the visit is to further strengthen the historical relationship between Iceland and Norway and to work towards the common interests of the nations, including in the field of defense, culture and improved mental health.

Same chair – Another President
Then there was no lack of Norwegian tradition and regularity at the hotel, the same three organizations from the PST security police greeted a journalist and followed Gudna Th. The president says he has learned his lessons from each of his predecessors, all the way back to Svein Björnsson. « But I’m just going to be a slope, » she says, « I think no one can step into such office and try to be someone else, I think the only move is to find their rhythm and take advantage of their strengths and lift those who went before and what they have done.
