Water crisis near Warsaw. Over 60 thousand people without water
RCB sent alarming SMSs to the inhabitants of both cities: « Note! Water is not suitable for consumption and sanitary purposes in Otwock and Karczew. The municipality will provide bottled water and from a barrel. Follow local messages. »
President of Otwock Jarosław Margielski informed in social media that The situation is serious. « Water is not suitable for consumption even after boiling, » he warned. He added that there was a break in delivery, but even after restoring it, the liquid in the taps will still not be safe.
According to PAP, the parents of the students of Otwock schools received a request on Wednesday morning that children and young people stay at home on Wednesday. « At the moment we are not able to provide hygienic and sanitary conditions, » wrote the headmaster of Primary School No. 1 in Otwock Dorota Rejek.

The source of the problem is the sewage treatment plant of Otwocki Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji. For now, it is not known what exactly contaminated the water, neither when the situation returns to normal.
According to PAP, Local authorities operate in crisis mode. A crisis management staff has been working since the morning. Bottled water distribution points and barrels are organized. Residents are asked to follow official messages.
– I know how difficult and burdensome this situation is. We do everything to provide residents with water and restore safety as soon as possible – said President Margielski.
About 44 thousand live in Otwock people, in Karczew – almost 16 thousand In total, the problem affects over 60,000 people. It is not yet known how long the crisis will last.
