Warning for severe winds in parts of the country: « may cause disorder »

SMHI has issued a yellow warning – the lowest warning class – over eastern Svealand and southernmost Norrland during Friday afternoon and evening.

– What will happen is that we have some showers passing during the afternoon and evening. In connection with them, it can be really windy short -lived as they pass. It can be up to very hard winds or even storms, says Viktor Bergman, meteorologist at SMHI.

The area affected Is from Oxelösund in the south to just north of Gävle. However, it will not blow throughout the area.

– It’s local phenomena. But it is the area where we believe that there is the greatest risk of the strong winds, says Viktor Bergman.

The wind can cause trees, branches or, for example, scaffolding falling down, according to SMHI.

– Take in loose objects such as outdoor furniture or trampoline, or sour them. You may not have to go out into the forest unnecessarily, then you can get branches on, says Viktor Bergman.

There is also a risk of Impact on public transport.

– It could be. There is a risk of canceled entrances or delays both in terms of train and bus, a little depending on whether trees would fall over tracks or roads.

There will also be some thunderstorms.

– But it is above all the wind that we think will be able to cause some disorder, says Viktor Bergman.

The warning is issued between 4pm and 9pm on Friday.

So far, the Swedish Transport Administration has no information on any disturbances in connection with the wind.
