Warholm wants to submit the dream limit of 300 meters hedge.
It is regarded as an odd stretch, but earlier this year the international athletics association made 300 meters hurdles a official competition branch.
At the Diamond League competition at Bislett in Oslo on Thursday evening, home star Karsten Warholm makes an attempt to improve the world best time he noted in Xiamen, China, in April with 33.05.
Warholm, like at The Olympic gold in Tokyo 2021 was the first to run 400 meters hedge for 46 seconds (45.94, world record) will receive good competition when he tries to undergo the dream limit on the « short » long hedge.
He is challenged by American Rai Benjamin, Olympic gold in Paris and silver in Tokyo, and by Brazilian Alison Dos Santos, who took bronze at both championships.
Warholm, three times world champion, had to settle for silver in Paris. He is pleased that 300 meters hedge has been given official status.
– I think it can make more people choose to run long hedges because it now consists of two branches, says Warholm.
He doesn’t think it is.
– The speed and lactic acid will be a little different. And then it is 50 meters to the first hedge (on 300 hedges) instead of 45, he says.
The Norwegian looks forward Against the challenge and against getting to Stockholm and the Bauhaus gala on Sunday. Even there he is challenged by Benjamin and Dos Santos, but then it applies to 400 hedges.
It is predicted to be good conditions with 20 degrees on Bislett on Thursday and are expected to be even warmer in Stockholm – something completely different from the rain -like rain that Warholm and the other athletes experienced at Stockholm Stadium in 2023. His race was then disturbed by environmental activists, who entered the running track just as the Norwegian sprinted. He hopes he doesn’t have to experience that again.
– It can blow quite a lot at the stadium, but now I have heard that it will be a little wind and I think it will be a really good race, says Warholm.
