War in the Middle East: German-Israeli Literature Days canceled

The German-Israeli Literature Days in Berlin have been canceled due to the escalation in the Middle East. « In view of the changed security situation in the Middle East since June 13, such a meeting in Berlin is no longer possible, » said the organizers in the evening.

An exit of Israeli authors is currently not possible, said a spokeswoman. « Our thoughts apply to all people on site who look into the future with fear and uncertainty. »

The literary days with readings and discussions should take place on June 19 and 22 in Berlin. The war between Israel and Iran with rocket attacks continued on Monday.

« As an organizing institutions, we will meet in the next few weeks and, take into account the developments on site, advise on the next steps, » said the organizers.

The German-Israeli Literature Days are a cooperation between the Heinrich Böll Foundation, the German-Israeli Future Forum and the Goethe Institute.
