Waffle Killers will open the Out of the Crowd Festival
Can you still speak of a start of the summer festivals when you are in the middle of spring in a kind of continuum without a real reference point? Probably yes, because the Out of the Crowd Festival has become an inevitable appointment in the cultural calendar. And this calendar will be filled quickly in the next few weeks.
And because the approach that The Soundstot Collective, the Kulturfabrik and the Rotondes have been pursuing together for over 20 years is at least unique. This approach explores the darkest corners of the musical spectrum, contains every alternative band that is currently on tour and the schedule of which offers itself for a detour into the iron metropolis. Or simply convinces the finest shoegaze bands to complete a program fragrant after independence.
Soon a first album is coming
So you can see this fresh wind at the Waffle Killers, which will open this edition of the Out of the Crowd Festival in the Escher Kulturfabrik. The Luxembourg-French band may not yet fill all criteria of the genre, but their impatience to stand on stage again is anything but hypocritical.

« Of course we want to be there, » says Lilou, guitarist and singer of this trio, who joined the Grand Ducal Musician landscape in July last year with the help of the Screaming Fields.
The E-Lake Festival invited you to be on stage in 2025. The opportunity to familiarize yourself with the Kufa cannot be rejected either.
« We are working on our first album. Seven pieces are already finished. At least three more are expected. It will be a continuation of our EP with four titles, which was published in December 2023, » continues the 16-year-old band leader, who got to know Tom and Maël in the Lycée Ermesinde in Mersch.
In the meantime, the two boys visit the university, which is not always easy to rehearse, but « if there are samples, we are more efficient and more productive ».
Lilou, who grew up with the Grungs sound of Nirvana’s « Come As You Are », can be inspired when composing and writing cheerful and less happy events in everyday life, while Tom contributes his skills behind the drums and Maël plays bass.
« I always ate waffles at school and my friends, who spoke English, came on this nickname for the band. It started! » The band does not yet know how to proceed, even if Lilou can imagine an infinite amount. « One day I want to live from music. Actually, I wonder what else I would do … »
Three outputs for everyone who does not feel like Éimaische and Co.
The 30-minute set on this Saturday will open the field of possibilities to the group before Ultranothing, the other Luxembourg Combo, takes over the lead. The trio provides uncompromising punk rock, which is likely to be worth a decent adrenaline on the stage.

Then you have to pull out your flashlight to make a way through the European-American labyrinth: the Swiss duo Peter Kernel, which is at home in the halls of the region and whose noise fits perfectly with the spirit of the event in Esch. Aris and Barbara, who have been in business for more than 15 years, inevitably commemorate Sonic Youth, with a punkier side and maybe a little less distorted.
The large family of the unclassifiable has taken up a newcomer that is actually only a recurring ex. The American band Karate had disappeared in the sinking for almost 20 years before it reappeared in 2024 with a sound that became calmer and jazzy. Geoff Farina, who occurred in the break Solo, has become visibly calmer.
The four upright girls from Los Bitchos will not quite bring a more playful touch on the same timeline. The quartet, who was supervised by Alex Kapranos, the singer of Franz Ferdinand, provides a Latino sound that convinced as renowned bands such as Pavement or Belle & Sebastian.
Where there is a small Tomorrowland in Luxembourg
The English boys from Deadetters, the Americans of Bambara or the very promising Irish of Gurriers are all invitations to discover an extraordinary festival that can prove to be talented. It will be remembered with pleasure that the Murder Capital went through this laboratory in 2019 and Motor Psycho the following year. The experiences were at least successful.
