WAC after penalty shooting in the Cup final – Diepresse.com
The WAC keeps its nerves in penalty shooting against LASK and moves into the cup final.
The WAC may continue to dream of the first cup title in the club’s history. On Wednesday, the Carinthians celebrated a 4-2 win at the LASK in the semi-finals in the penalty shootout and thus meet Hartberg in the final on May 1st (1-0 against Austria Vienna).
The LASK was through after early lead Maximilian Entrup (5.) punished for an ever more passive idea. Chibuike Nwaiwu (84.) brought the dominant but mostly harmless guests into the extension or in the 911 shooting, after which the WAC’s first cup final was finally certified.
Both teams crossed almost unchanged compared to last weekend. At the LASK, in the storm for Samuel Adeniran Christoph Lang to before, played in his place Florian Flecker. In midfield, the WAC offered the last blocked Adis Jasic and in the storm Angelo Gattermayer for Oliver Pink instead of Boris Matic.
The offensive did not play a major role in the guests for the time being. Rather, the WAC’s efforts are very confident – with the fast and ultimately controversial guidance in the back. The Linz Ideal used a ball loss in midfield, after a few combinations with a shot in the far corner, Entrup closed after exactly 4:02 minutes. The previous « textile offense » by Flecker to Nicolas Wimmer remained unpunished.
WAC tries for a long time, but harmless
The Carinthians, who won the recent four duels with the LASK, hardly came into the dangerous zone despite the possession of the ball. An unprecedented long -range shot of defense lawyer Nicolas Wimmer (29th) was the only noteworthy, at the first chance from the game, Goalie Tobias Lawal saved from the approaching Dejan Zukic (28th). Shortly before the break, the Serb clearly put a volley over the goal (42nd).
While the defensively very saddle-resistant, offensive but harmless LASK did not change his playground after the restart, WAC coach Dietmar Kühbauer tried to react with the substitution of Ervin Omic and Pink. It took up to the 56th minute before Thierno Ballo found the first chance with a shot on the outside network. Until then, it was the strongest phase of the guests, LASK coach Markus Schopp sent the field to the field in view of the increasing passivity of his eleven Adeniran and Robert Zulj.
A stain shot next to the gate (67th) marked the first LASK chance after the change of sides, the WAC countered with a top chance by pink, which did not put the ball from five meters in the goal (68.). In a lively, but further, low -chance final phase, it finally had to judge a standard: Nwaiwu was successful after free kick by the head and inner rod and brought his team into extra time – also because LASK defender Andres Andres was only heading to the top of the latte (92.).
LASK with weak 911 performance
The topping was not only characterized by exhaustion on both sides, but also yellow-red for the already changed entrup due to criticism (105.). The decision finally had to be made in the penalty shootout. While the WAC used his first four attempts there, Philipp Ziereis became the hosts of the hosts with a rod shot and Adeniran, whose weak attempt Nikola parried. (Apa/ed.))
