A vulnerable Ukrainian family of four that threatened to be put out of his home in the Antwerp Nooddorp should not leave immediately. According to their lawyer, this turned out on Monday when preventing the procedure they had filed at the court of first instance. There might be a new home in prospect, and the family will get the chance to get it around.
The family consists of a middle -aged couple, their disabled son and a grandmother. They had to leave for some time from the emergency village for Ukrainian refugees on the Left Bank, which in principle announced in February – long in advance – closed the doors.
For some of the residents, however, it was not at all obvious to find a new home on the private market. A minority had to be accompanied by CAW (Center for General Welfare Work) and Digidak, an organization that is committed to reducing the digital gap, in collaboration with the city of Antwerp. The immosial was then also called in. All this still did not bring a solution for everyone at the moment.

The justice of the peace had determined on March 18 that the family in question could be put out of his emergency home. A lawyer appointed for them, Master Samuel van Reeth, then stepped with a one -sided petition to the court of first instance, who decided that the judgment of the peace of the peace could not be executed yet, because the benefit of the city in the event of exhausting does not outweigh the disadvantage of the family, if the reconciliation would ultimately turn out to be unjustified.
The case would be discussed on Monday. However, it didn’t come that far (yet). According to Van Reeth, the case was postponed in mutual consultation, initially until next Monday, because there may be a solution for the family.

Another family, with a child of 3 years, is in the meantime being threatened to be put out of the emergency village on Friday. They are also defended by Van Reeth, this time in a summary proceedings. He will be the first time on Tuesday. There too, the hope is that if the postponement does not have to get that far.
According to figures from the city of Antwerp, 25 people are currently spending over 6 units in the Emergency Village, including 9 minors. At the height, more than 700 people stayed in the emergency village.
