Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Saturday at a set of his supporters, in the midst of mass student and civic protests across the country, « ended with a colored revolution » and that he would not allow anyone on the outside or from the inside to demolish the state, and explained the formation of a new movement for the people with the need for new energy.

Vucic called on supporters to the rally called « We do not give Serbia » after being confronted with anti -government protests from November last year, a tragedy at the Novi Sad Railway Station when 16 people were killed in the fall of the canopy.

The wave of protest was introduced by a student movement whose actions have carried out hundreds of thousands of people on the streets in recent months who support students and their demands to determine political and criminal responsibility for tragedy and seek to fight corruption, a fairer state and a regulated society where institutions will work without political pressure and the influence of the state.

Students blocked more than 60 faculties of all four state universities and walked or biking hundreds of miles along the whole country, being empathy and solidarity of people at protests that brought together tens and hundreds of thousands of people.

The authorities called the student and civic protests a « colored revolution », and the head of the state said before his supporters tonight that it was « completed » and that « there is none of that », which was accompanied by the shouts of « Aco Serb » and « Victory, Victory ».

He accused participants of student and civic protests of violence and said that Serbia « will no longer suffer » nor will he « allow » these to do the state from the outside to overthrow the state. « 

Talking about the formation of a movement for the state and the people, which was officially registered at the end of March, Vucic said that this movement was needed because the state is necessary « new energy ».

He pointed out that the new power needed Serbia for « a new plan by 2035 ».

« It’s the movement of the people, every worker, a peasant, a student …. is welcome, » Vucic said.

He called the students, calling them « blockers », to return to the classrooms because their knowledge needed Serbia.

He told them that the state would count on them, that they would listen to their opinion on the direction in which Serbia should go, but that with other students who are in blockages, they must enter « the train of the future, progress and prosperity of Serbia ».

Speaking about the idea of ​​a transitional government proposed to create conditions for honest and democratic elections, Vucic reiterated that there will be no such governments, but he wants a « honest Serbian government » that has the trust of citizens.

Vucic cited a police assessment that there were 145,000 people at tonight’s gathering, saying he thought there were more.

The rally ended with a large fireworks, and participants headed to hundreds of buses who brought them from all over the country to Belgrade during the day.
