Vucic: New Government Mandate is Djuro Matsut

The Serbian president has nominated tonight for a new government’s mandate – Djuro Matsut, an endocrinologist, a MIA correspondent in Belgrade.
Matsut graduated, mastered and received his doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade, where he is a full -time professor.

Prime Minister Milos Vucevic resigned from the post at the end of January after attacking students in Novi Sad. The Serbian Parliament on March 19 announced the resignation of Vucevic, which fell the current government of Serbia.

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has previously announced that they have two competing candidates for the mandate.

The deadline for electing a new government is April 18.

Vucic said the new government would be elected to Good Friday and that difficult tasks are ahead – the country to oppose all pressures regarding regional policy, to resolve the tax issue with the United States, speed up the European path, while preserving traditional friends in the East and restoring foreign and domestic levels.

« It will be a big task for the new government to continue to keep peace, stability, to behave tolerant and patiently, » Vucic said.

He added that he believes Matsut has professional and personal qualities, commitment and expertise to pursue the post of prime minister and that he has assured him that he can secure her choice.

Vucic said tonight that the situation in the region is very difficult, especially the political situation in Republika Srpska and BiH and expressed concern that any decision to attempt to arrest Milorad Dodik will be catastrophic for the entire region and Serbia.

He said in his address to the Palace Serbia that it is therefore necessary to preserve peace and not to take hasty measures.
Vucic said he hoped he would meet with US President Donald Trump next month to discuss the customs duties and find a solution to reduce them to the lowest possible level. He added that measures have been taken for 37 % of customs duties and that he is talking to US officials.
