Vucic goes to Red Square despite EU warning

Serbian President Alexander Vucic will attend the Red Square military parade in the Russian capital, which will mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II on May 9.

He announced that he did not change his decision after the EU warned countries applying for EU membership not to participate in the celebrations, as Russia was waging a full -scale war in Europe.

The visit would actually be equal to a demonstration of support for Putin and Moscow’s war against Ukraine, the Associated Press reports.

Vucic, who often expressed pro -Russian views, said a Serbian military unit would participate in the parade for the first time.

« In the upcoming period, we will be under pressure on the event in Moscow, in which we announced our participation, » Vucic told reporters.

Although he claims to want to take Serbia to the EU, Vucic maintains a close relationship with Russia and refused to apply the Western sanctions on Moscow, which is expected by countries applying for membership.

Vucic said he would travel to Moscow with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who described as « disrespectful » remarks of EU foreign foreign policy representatives, who warned European leaders not to travel to Moscow on Monday.

Bosnian Serbian separatist leader Milorad Dodik said he would also be present.

On Wednesday, the Serbian Parliament approved a new government full of EU ministers, including the Minister of Information Boris Bratina, who was recently shown how he set fire to the European flag and chanted « We don’t want the EU, we want an alliance with Russia. »

The previous government collapsed under the pressure of protesters.

Russian ambassador isolated in Berlin

Meanwhile, the German parliament left the ambassadors of Russia and Belarus outside its list of guests for a special meeting on May 8, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, Reuters reported.

A Bundestag spokesman referred to an assessment of the federal government on the basis of which the decision was made to isolate the two ambassadors, but did not say what was contained in it.

Representatives of other embassies will join the German MPs for the event in the Bundestag plenary, which will mark the end of the war and at the same time the end of the Nazi Germany Violence and Genocide campaign in Europe.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Embassy in Berlin said that the ambassador of Ukraine « of course » would attend the event and welcome the Bundestag’s decision not to invite the Russian ambassador.

« It was the only correct solution, » said the spokesman in an email sent to Reuters.
