Volume 7 of the series « Rock interviews » appeared

On Saturday, April 5, in Bucharest, at a time collateral to the series of concerts occasioned by the sixth edition of the Urban Blues Fest Festival, which took place on April 4-6, 2025 at The Pub-University, in Bucharest, the launch of the seventh volume of the series « Rock interviews », which has a little one, truly valuable music promoters in Romania.

Appeared at the Akakia Publishing House, the book benefits from the cover more than suggestive and, both elegant, made by the graphic artist Christian Podratzky, a book that, with the help of the intervieweed musicians, brings before the reader, both information from too short history in Romania, as well And on the Romanian cultural environment in general, constituting, as the previous volumes, in a useful documentary material to the approved, the professionals in music but also to the public, in general.

Subsequent to the « forward word » signed by the author, the volume begins « en Fanfare » with an interview taken by Radu Lupașcu since 2017 to the exceptional musicologist Viorel Cosma, and resumed, now, for the consistent benefit of the summary. Efficiently leading the dialogue with the scholar in music Viorel Cosma, the author leaves him the freedom to draw a line that starts from the masterpieces of George Enescu and which stops in the current of Romanian rock, a fully argued and musical line, and which argues in turn the autochthonic genus. It should be mentioned that the dialogue with the great musician is preceded by a reminder signed in 2015 by Grid Modorcea.

The volume continues with the interviews taken to first -rate musicians from the Romanian Rock/Folk Folk, offered to readers in distinct chapters:

« The best European blues band « -realized with members of the band » Blues Shacks « , from Germany; » Vandercris « -with Timisoara guitarist Horia Crișovan; » 50 years of music and Muzikie « -with Ioji Kappl, the legendary bassist of the legendary Phoenix Group, who speaks at large about the collaboration with the orchestra of the national theater theater. Bucharest; the ideas of the « school from Păltiniș », the one who, after making a theoretical demonstration of musical chromatism, sliding with the information to the avant-garde area, makes an unspeakable criticism of the cultural and educational system in Romania; « ADELE 1 Press »-with Toni Vinil, a producer and trader independent of albums made on vinyl; « Mercy, Mercy, Mercy » -with Raphael Wresnig, Keyboards, one of the biggest European rock and blues, the one who perfects his skill by playing the organ Hammond, and, with your will, in the chapter « to end with reverberation! What is that? Interview, I come with information about the tournament life from the 70s, 80, about the relationship of the rock musician with the authorities, but they also make references to the avant-garde rock, including by approaching the Dodecaphonic or random music, but they also come with critical shades on rock and Romanian folk.

Well, only by summarizing the above, you can easily see the consistency of this volume with the number 7 of the series « Rock interviews », next to which we must add the other theme series cared for by Radu Lupașcu, the collections « subjective mythologies » and « singular vibrations », but also the publication « .

Thus, in front of the picture of the journalistic and editorial activity submitted for years, we can say with the basis that it is joined by the other editorial steps that had the theme of rock, folk and jazz in Romania: Nelu Stratone (the history of the Romanian rock played in the volumes « Rock under the harvest and the hammer »), TVR-Cultural, but also the editorial appearances under this aegis), regretted Teodora Ionescu, the filmmaker of the Folk shows from Radio Bucharest (« Folk simply »-Aidoma of Radu Lupașcu, a history in interviews), Ștefan Naftănăilă-Musical Journalist at Radio Romania, Cristian Teodosiu updates etc.

For good reason, it can be added that at the moment there is an entire bibliography that covers this area of Romanian music defined by rock, folk, blues, jazz or progressive, bibliography that is at the foundation of specialists, musicians, but, especially, of the general public and especially of the young public who can complete this education, this volume, through this book. It’s all about them to want this.

Let’s not omit: congratulations, Radu Lupașcu!
