Visitors to the Fatima pilgrimage in Wiltz should note that

On Ascension Day, a tradition will be maintained in Wiltz: Almost 20,000 believers take part in the pilgrimage to our dear wife of Fatima year after year.

The pilgrimage moves from the Dean’s Church of Saints-Pierre-ET-Paul in Wiltz to the chapel, which is in the middle of nature outside the community. Because of the expected crowds, the police published a number of instructions and information that visitors should consider on site.

For example, the authorities are reminiscent of the fact that wild camping and grilling are prohibited in the great outdoors. « Especially along streets », they specify, « building a tent camp along a street is indeed an unnecessary danger ».

Cordly roads as well as parking and driving bans must also be observed. « Due to the expected high number of visitors, traffic disabilities in Niederwiltz can be expected in Niederwiltz on the pilgrimage day between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.. In order to ensure that the event runs smoothly, there will be a traffic and/or parking ban on several streets, » explains the police.

Infrastructure is prepared for pilgrims

The police will be there from Wednesday afternoon, the day before the event, to lead visitors to the official campsites if necessary.

If possible, the authorities recommend that you use public transport for the journey to Wiltz, such as the RGTR buses of lines 142, 143, 144 and 160 or the trains that run between Kautenbach and Wiltz every 30 minutes.

Those who want to drive to Wiltz by car are recommended to form carpools to use 900 places on the signposted P+R parking spaces and then use the various shuttle buses. These run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. every 15 minutes.
