« Boetsja is not an isolated case. From Marioepol to Izium, from Kramatensk to Cherson, the pattern is the same: terror, torture, mass murders. These are not tragic war errors. These are war crimes. Systematic. Calculated, » writes Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxime Prévot on X.
De Wever and his fellow ministers went to a church in Boetsja where a mass grave was discovered. Inside there are large photos that give a picture of the atrocities that took place in the spring of 2022. Shocking images.
It caused the prime minister for emotions that he could no longer control. The tears banging, emotional and with eyes full of incomprehension, he stared at photos of excavated and burned bodies or of Ukrainian inhabitants who were shot in cool blood and stayed on the street. “It is incredible how easily people turn into the murderers of their own neighbors. This is ouradour that you are looking at (The French village that the Nazis tied to the ground in WWII and that can still be visited, red). It is always the same, always the same images, « Dixit a De Wever with tears in the eyes.

The Ukrainian scenes made a special impression on the prime minister because his father had a special bond with the Eastern European country. « My father came here often, just after the fall of the Soviet Union. He traveled the country and made many friends here. They often came to work at our house at the time. In the summer our house was always full of Ukrainians. You wonder what happened to those people … It is so difficult to watch those photos, » said a very eventful VTM.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister and the other ministers in Kiev also expressed their condolences to the many, many victims who have died since 2014 – when the Russians took the Crimea. On the impressive wall of memory, they put down a flower wreath and lit a candle.
