Vietnam President pardons 8,056 prisoners
Based on the amnesty of Vietnam’s President Leuong Kuong, a total of 8,056 prisoners were temporarily released this year, reports VNA.
Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Nguen Joa Bean urged all sectors, social organizations, businesses and families to welcome pardoned people with open hands and support their reintegration into society, without stigma and discrimination.
Bin made an appeal this morning at the ceremony held by the Department of Police for Detention Camps, Institutions for Compulsory Education and Correctional Schools at the Ministry of Public Security.
The event, held at the A2 Prison in Dien Lam, Dean Khan County, Khan Joa province, announced the decision of the Vietnam president for this year’s special amnesty and issued a certificate of amnesty for pardoned persons.
Bean, who is also the chairman of the amnesty advisory board, said that after the president signed an amnesty decision in 2025, their body worked closely with the competent ministries and agencies for thorough and quickly completing the necessary procedures.
He said nearly 40 amnesties had been carried out in the past 80 years, allowing hundreds of thousands of prisoners to reintegrate into their communities.
Since 2009, more than 90,000 inmates have been released prematurely with presidential amnesties.
