Miocic thus finally got the Croatian homeland, for which he repeatedly pointed out that it means a lot to him. During his career, he has won numerous awards, including more awards for the performance of the night and fight of the night, and in 2019 he was named the « athlete of the year » by the Cleveland sports organization.

– I am particularly pleased that in just over a month I will be part of the Sunset Sports Festival, a story that is known today around the world. It will be an opportunity to hang out with amazing people on one of the most beautiful destinations. But for me, this is not just coming to Croatia – it is a return home with a sense of deep personal connection and gratitude – said Miocic, a former UFC heavyweight champion, who boasted Croatian roots throughout his career by highlighting symbols and wearing squares with quadrats.

He first arrived in Croatia in 2016, after winning a heavyweight title. Then he met with the most famous Croatian fighter Mirko Filipovic, with whom he trained. After that, Miocic defended his belt three more times and thus became the most successful heavyweight in the history of the elite martial arts. He ended his career in November last year after defeating Jon Jones.
