Vicky Krieps is in the spotlight with a new film in Cannes
Luxembourg is again strongly represented at this year’s film festival in Cannes: In addition to the Luxembourg co -production « Un Simple Accident » – a drama by the Iranian director Jafar Panahi – and the animated film « Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol » (Bidibul Productions) co -produced by the Grand Duchy be present.
Luxembourg film by Jafar Panahi fights for the Palme d’Or in Cannes
The Luxembourg-German actress Vicky Krieps takes on the leading role in « Love Me Tender », a drama from the French director Anna Czenave Cambet. The film that is played by lawyer Clémence, played by Krieps, who breaks out of her marriage to find her true self – and thus discovered her homosexuality. Her ex-husband fights for custody for the son together. But Clémence also tries to continue to maintain the maternal bond with her child.
The film from France is based on Constance Debré’s novel of the same name from 2020 and is presented in the “Un Certain Regard” side row, as the festival announced on Wednesday evening. In this category, Vicky Krieps won the prize as the best leading actress for her performance as Empress Sisi in « Corsage ».
The Luxembourg co -production « Un Simple Accident » (Bidibul Productions), on the other hand, competes for the Palme d’Or, the main prize of the most renowned film festival in the world.
