The whole announcement

The Ministry of Health and the Administration of the 7th Ministry, implementing in practice the Prime Minister’s own statements that « do not require two public hospitals within 30 kilometers », consciously lead to the depreciation of Venizelio, provocatively ignoring the needs of the people and the needs of the people and the people’s needs.
The collapse is just around the gates:
Today, 28/04/2025, the doctors of the Pulmonary Clinic submitted a team resignation due to the inability to safely support and operate the clinic with only 4 specialized doctors.
The administration of the hospital and the 7th Ministry was fully aware, but did not take any substantial measure.
Instead of reinforcing Venizelio, they appointed auxiliary doctor in PAGNI, where 10 pulmonologists are already serving!
PAGNI and Venizelio have a similar volume of hospitalized and needs, and the weakening of one will lead to the collapse of the other.
Pulmonary clinic is vital:
It is on -call every other day covering the entire 7th Ministry and the islands. It manages critical cases and operates special clinics (sleep, rare diseases, anti -tapping unit).
The preoperative evaluation of patients becomes impossible without it. «
Dramatic shortcomings in Venizelio
They then refer to deficiencies per section.
« Borderline Operation of Departments: Department of Modern Imaging Methods (CT and Magnetic tomograph): Digested. The on -call are covered by doctors from PAGNI. Appointments are limited due to lack of staff.
Anesthesiological: It continues to be supported by a physician serving by another public health structure, and are also employed by private doctors with a block to serve morning surgeries.
Radiological: Huge lack of technologists-3-4 retirements are expected in 2025. Inability to serve the huge demand for services (radiofacial examinations in IPPs, radioscopies in various departments such as MENN and ICUs, surgery).
Surgeries: 3 surgical rooms closed, out -of -control waiting lists.
Intensive care unit: 3 closed beds due to lack of medical staff, 6 vacant organic positions of specialized doctors. The announcement of the 3 ICU notes does not include a physician specialty, with the potential result that the positions will come out barren!
Coroner: Off for 1.5 years due to lack of nursing staff.
Nursing service: Immediate need to reinforce with at least 60 people. 20,000+ owed licenses and repo.
Cleanliness – Feeding: Instead of contractor fixes, a higher cost contractor is promoted and worse quality of service.
Transfers of doctors: Pathologists covering Rethymnon Hospital are forced to travel with a half -compensation bus!
Pretense quality checks: While the operation of the hospital collapses at all levels, Venizelio is « controlled » by ODIPY operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, with the aim of – assumed – to upgrade the quality of the services provided.
« It’s enough! »
The Association of Employees of the Venizelio Hospital of Heraklion, after all, wonders:
« What quality?
What security?
What adequacy?
When the shifts in the sections are uncovered, making it impossible to care for patients, without taking into account the completeness of the sections, the severity of the incidents, the quality indicators and the health protocols.
It is coming!
We require solutions yesterday.
We will not allow Venizelio to fall.
WE WILL NOT ENTERTAL HEALTH IN HEALTH.
Venizelio Hospital is an integral part of our country’s lives.
Its proper functioning is a condition of survival for the inhabitants of Crete and the whole of southern Greece.
Responsibility has a name.
We call on the people, the bodies and any authorities to claim with us:
Immediate recruitment of staff
Straining all contractors
Strengthening and not dismantling the national health system. «
