Vatican begins the Konclave Pope Election / Day

The cardinals will first participate in a solemn mission of St. Peter’s Basilica, but then gather in the Sistine Chapel to participate in the voting process.

Cardinals under the age of 80 will participate in the vote, but all the cardinal consultations are attended.

According to a long tradition, when black smoke rises from the chapel of the Sistine chapel, it means that the new Pope has not yet been elected. The smoke is made black as the burning bulletins are poured into tar. When white smoke rises from the Sistine chapel, it is a sign that the new Pope is elected. In this case, combustible ballot papers are mixed with potassium chlorate, lactose and chloroform resin to create white smoke.

It has already been reported that Francis, who became the Pope in 2013, left his life on April 21 at the age of 88.
