Vassilis Charalampopoulos will have … two bosses this summer
The inventive and demonic Giannis Kakleas will direct this summer on a great tour throughout Greece the masterpiece of Carlo Goldoni, « The Servant of Two Bosses » with the delightful Vasilis Charalampopoulos in the iconic role of Truffinou comic situations and timeless comments about human nature.
On the side of Vassilis Charalampopoulos, the renowned and beloved actress Faye Xyla takes over one of the lead roles, giving the stage her unique energy and interpretive power.
Known for his original and explosive directing approaches, Yiannis Kakleas directs a remarkable troupe, bringing to life the timeless satire of Goldoni with dynamism, imagination and intense rhythm.
A work-station of world comedy
Written in 1745, the « two bosses » is one of Commedia dell’arte’s most popular works, which Carlo Goldoni renewed, giving him a more structured narrative and multi -dimensional characters.
At the core of the story is Troufundino, a poor but unprofitable servant who, in order to secure his food, decides to work at the same time for two bosses, without revealing to anyone his fraud. His decision leads to a sequence of reversals, misunderstandings and hilarious situations, while at the same time the project comments with sarcasm and humor of corruption, hypocrisy and class contradictions.
The show
Giannis Kakleas, with his unique directorial intelligence, approaches the work through a modern, dynamic perspective, highlighting both his comic and social depth. His directing utilizes the rhythm and physicality of Commedia dell’arte, creating a frenzied, explosive performance, where love, hunger and survival are intertwined in a timeless game of power and desires.
