Vangelis Marinakis in New York – « We take European and lead across Europe » (pics+vid)

Olympiacos President Vangelis Marinakis gave the « present » to An event held in New York, at Melrose Ballroom, for the 100th anniversary of the team.

The « red-white » fan association in the city of the United States awarded the leader of the « red-white » PAE, under the guidance of which Olympiacos won the UEFA Europa Conference League, as well as the UEFA Youth League in the 2023-2024 season!

The plaques to Vangelis Marinakis were handed over by the President of the Association, George Tsambas, who thanked him for his enormous contribution to Olympiacos, but also for honoring the Festival of the Association with his presence.

Vangelis Marinakis, who was applauded, said after his award

« So 100 years and it’s not enough for our team.

I am very happy to be near you tonight. The year that passed was probably the most important year in our club’s history. We won two European leagues. We are the first team in Europe to conquer two Europeans during the same period.

We are very happy because the beginning was very difficult, we had a lot of adversity along the way and ups and downs. We never surrendered, we made corrective changes and whatever it needed and in the end we reached the Grand Final and won it.

Also, for our young people, I think it was just as important and this is perhaps more important to win the Champions League in the Youth, Youth League. We have shown that Greece has a talent and can star in Europe.

And not just in Europe. When we went to Brazil and played in Maracana the final, we may have lost but we played very well.

As everyone said there we deserved the victory. This is very important for these kids. We see that Olympiacos is one of the few teams, perhaps the only team in Europe to have four key players from the Academy, 17, 18, 22 years old in its eleven.

These players lead in Greece and Europe. I think this is very important for all children, for the children of Piraeus, for the children of Greece.

We decided to go all over Greece, as well as to countries that have a large number of Greeks living there. We did it in Europe and now the cup came to America, in New York, it will go to Chicago. We are very happy about it, because we saw two million people all over Greece celebrating the cup, as well as hundreds of thousands going to be photographed with the cup, kissing it.

And within them we are sure that there were too many who were not Olympians, they were Greeks, they were proud of their homeland.

What we want to do is continue. We are conquerors and see it is not only in football. Olympiacos has another first in Europe, in the volleyball, polo, track and field. All this. We take European and lead across Europe.

This is a great achievement that only Olympiacos does. We want you with us. We where we can be close to the people of Olympiacos. Here in America and Astoria. We all feel like in Greece and even warmer, because we see this great love of the world.
