Giancarlo Giammetti pays homage, on his social profile, the birthday of the friend of a life Valentino Garavani. The Italian stylist, born in Voghera on 11 May 1932, turns 93: few have been able to influence, guide and surprise (year after year, parade after parade) the fashion world for over half a century as he did. His passion for fashion was born when he was a very young boy, so much so that he attended a school of figurine in Milan.
At just 17 years old, he left for Paris where he worked- forming- in the atelier of Jean Dèsses and Guy Laroche. He then returns to Italy, in Rome, in via Condotti, his tailoring laboratory. In 1962 the turning point at Palazzo Pitti, in Florence: Valentino participated in the event conceived by the Marquis Bista Giorgini for the promotion of Italian fashion. And everyone had already understood that they had a prodigy enfant from Paris. The partnership with Giancarlo Giammetti, then architecture studentcomplete his golden moment so much that the two have always remained united to complete each other. The Valentino maison is an incredible success (and Giammetti is co-founder). Taken of the highest tailoring first, then the legendary Rosso Valentino bring great awards and collaborations with the Hollywood stars (from Jackie Kennedy to 2001 when Julia Roberts receives the Oscar for best actress for the film Erin Brockovich in Valentino). On May 25, the first exhibition of the Valentino Garavani-Giammetti Foundation in the new building in Piazza Mignanelli 23 will be inaugurated in Rome.
