Vacation in the south and east of Europe much cheaper

Now it is official: vacation is significantly cheaper in certain countries in South and Eastern Europe than in Germany. When comparing hotel and restaurant services, it can also be seen that the most expensive countries in Europe can be found in the north and in the immediate vicinity of Germany.

If you look at these prices alone, you should vacation in Albania, Northern Macedonia or Bulgaria, because there are 52 or 51 percent below German values. The expenses for the journey are not included in the comparison.

With Portugal (-35 percent) and Turkey (-31 percent) there are also two classic holiday countries among the cheapest destinations. Spain is also a comparatively cheap holiday destination with a price discount of 25 percent.

Expensive north and violent Switzerland

However, it is particularly expensive to stay and eat in northern countries such as Iceland (+49 percent), Denmark (+28 percent) and Norway (+25 percent). With a surcharge of only 8 percent, Sweden is significantly cheaper. Unhappy most expensive is vacation in Switzerland with an average surcharge of 52 percent on German prices.

Tourists in Austria (0 percent), France (-3 percent), Italy (-6 percent) and the Netherlands (+7 percent) will find a similar price level as at home.
