A study has more precise the popularity values of the United States under US President Donald Trump in 24 countries. It shows that the United States has suffered in large parts of Europe. Especially in Poland.
The popularity of the United States has decreased significantly since US President Donald Trump took office in numerous countries. According to the study published on Wednesday (local time) by the PEW Research Center, the popularity values of the United States decreased in 15 out of 24 countries examined. The prestige of the United States under Trump was significantly back in large parts of Europe, the strongest was the case in Poland. Austria didn’t seem to be in the list.
Among all countries examined, the popularity value of the United States in Sweden was lowest, here 79 percent of people have a poor opinion of the country. In Germany, too, the reputation of the USA due to the Trump Presidency, according to the survey: Between 2024 and 2025, the proportion of people with a positive view of the United States fell by 16 percentage points, from 48 to 33 percent. 66 percent of Germans see the United States negative at the moment, and in the previous year it was only 48 percent.
Current change in Mexico and Canada
Both in Mexico and in Canada, which Trump wants to make the 51st US state, a majority of respondents have a poor opinion from the USA after a majority had seen the country positively under Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden.
In a large part of the countries examined by Pew Research, Trump’s character and his politics came across little sympathy. Trump achieved his worst values in the neighboring country of Mexico, which he had repeatedly attacked and put pressure on his immigration policy during his first term. According to the survey, 91 percent of Mexicans surveyed said that they did not trust the Republican to make the right decisions in world politics.
Most positive reviews came from Israel
On average of all countries, a majority of respondents did not match Trump’s politics on important questions such as the Ukraine War, the Gaza War, Immigration and Climate Change. 80 percent of the respondents described Trump as arrogant, only 28 percent thought he was honest.
The most positive was the picture of the USA in Israel, which is clearly supported by Trump and his government. Here 83 percent of those surveyed have a positive opinion about the United States.
