USA send 600 more military personnel to Mexico border
The US will send more than 600 additional soldiers to the Mexico border. Tuesday's announcement of the US Armed Forces follows the reinforcement of illegal immigration measures by the government led by Donald Trump.
About 40 are Air Force information analysts and 590 are army engineers, the US commands revealed. The reinforcement will raise the total number of troops mobilized or should be mobilized on the Mexico border to approximately 9,600, Northcom added.
On his first day of return to office, Donald Trump signed an executive order that declares the state of emergency on the border with Mexico. During the election campaign, he accused migrants of being criminals who « poison the blood » from the US and promised to perform « the largest deportation operation in the country's history. »
About 11 million undocumented immigrants lived in the United States in 2022, according to the latest estimate of the internal security department.
The US border patrol says it has made about 8.8 million arrests of irregular migrants on the Mexico border, some of them several times, during the four-year term of former Democratic President Joe Biden. These arrests hit the peak at the end of 2023 before they fell significantly at the end of their term.
Donald Trump has set out for dramatically accelerating this decline when it reached power. “The invasion of our country is over,” he wrote on his social network Truth.
