USA-IRAN Other Negotiations on Nuclear Program Next week
Iran and the US will develop more negotiations next week regarding the rapid advancement of the Tehran nuclear program, Iranian state television announced at the end of the first round of talks between the two countries-since President Donald Trump returned to the White House, according to AP.
Iranian state narrator revealed that the US envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi « spoke briefly » together-the first time both countries have been doing so since the Obama administration.
Tehran’s statement that both sides spoke face to face – though briefly – suggests that the negotiations went well for Iranian state television, which has long been searched by harsh lines.
In a statement issued on Saturday afternoon, the White House described the discussions as « very positive and constructive », and admitted that the issues to be resolved were very complicated.
« The direct communication of the Special Prophet Witkoff today was a step forward in achieving a mutually useful result, » the White House said.
Trump told reporters at Air Force One while flying to Miami for a UFC event that talks were going well.
« I can’t tell you because nothing matters until you do it, so I don’t like talking about it, but it’s going well. The situation in Iran is going very well, I think, » he said.
« The next round of talks will take place on Saturday, » April 19, according to Iranian and American statements.
The first round of talks began yesterday around 3:30 pm. Both sides spoke for more than two hours in one place on the outskirts of Muscat, Oman’s capital, ending talks around 5:50 pm. // he/ATSH
