US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States would accurately continue efforts to end the war in Ukraine if Ukraine and Russia have prepared documents that will testify to readiness for concessions and a « realistic and rational » approach.

Details: Commenting on his conversation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, Rubio noted that he had informed him about the preparation of the document with its « ideas and requirements » for ceasefire and further negotiations. He expressed his hope that the Russian document would « be close enough to what Ukrainians want to reach this point and maybe resolve these differences. »

Rubio also stated that perhaps the only one that could help withdraw from the dead end is the conversation of US President Donald Trump and Russian ruler Vladimir Putin.

The Secretary of State said he could not declare such a meeting « in terms of choice of place and date », but stressed that Trump wanted to hold it as soon as possible.
