US President regardless of increasing car prices
The US President said Saturday that she « doesn’t care » if car prices in the US increases as a result of customs customs on imported vehicles and parts.
The statement comes days after the Wall Street Journal reported that Donald Trump threatened car executives with retaliation if prices underwent.
« I’m in paint. I hope they increase prices, because if they do, people will buy cars made in the United States. We have many, » Trump told NBC presenter Kristen Welker.
Last Thursday, the US President imposed an additional 25% tax on imported car and light trucks to the United States, which will take effect on April 3.
Tariffs on automotive components from Mexico and Canada, covered by the US-Mixico-Canada Agreement (MCA), will be postponed, but the situation remains uncertain for mixed supply chains.
The prices of stocks from the largest US car manufacturers have already been affected by the Trump administration’s decision, and experts fear higher prices for buyers.
Asked by NBC News about the message he wanted to send to the concerns of car executives, Trump replied, « The message is ‘congratulations’. »
« If you do your car in the United States, you will make a lot of money. If you do not, you will probably have to come to the United States. »
