US OPDAT representatives return to SPAK

US OPDAT representatives (Prosecution Training and Assistance Officer) have today returned to the Special Prosecution Office and Organized Crime Prosecution premises (SPAK), where they will continue to provide assistance for investigations conducted by prosecutors of this structure.

US experts had left Albania in early February following a decision by US President Donald Trump to suspend several funds for international agencies, including USAID.

However, they have now returned to continue the support and assistance needed for SPAK, a structure created to combat corruption and organized crime in Albania.

Since its creation, the SPAK has benefited from continuous support from international partners, including the United States of America, which have contributed through several missions, such as OPDAT (Training and Assistance Assistance Officer in the Prosecutor’s Office), ICITAP (International Training Program), DEA and FBI Bureau (Federal Bureau).

This support has been important for strengthening the capacity of Albanian institutions in the fight against corruption and organized crime.
