US not to fall for Putin’s « delay tactic », Kyiv’s Berbok said
Germany’s Foreign Minister Analina Berbok said in Kiev today that the United States must not be allowed to be misled by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s behavior, which she called « delay tactics ».
Berbock arrived in the Ukrainian capital on an unannounced visit for security reasons, DPA reported.
« At the upcoming NATO foreign ministers meeting we will send a clear message that the US side should not be drawn into the tactics of delaying Putin, » Berbok said after arriving in Kiev. According to her, the Russian leader only simulates readiness for negotiations, but « does not give up even a millimeter » from his position, using time to continue his « illegal aggression in Ukraine ».
– Ukraine is ready to sign a ceasefire agreement immediately. We have to give clear guarantees that the next German government will continue its significant support for Ukraine, Berbok said. She noted that Germany had granted an additional 130m euros in humanitarian aid and stabilization funds in response to Russian attacks – DPA reports.
« Due to the stalemate in the negotiations between the United States and Russia, it is strategic importance to show that we are behind Ukraine without any conditions and that we support Kiev more than ever, » the German minister added.
