US corporate boss on a surprise visit to China
In the ongoing trade conflict between the USA and China, the head of the US chip group Nvidia surprisingly traveled to Beijing. As Chinese state media reported, CEO Jensen Huang emphasized on site how important China is as a sales market for Nvidia and signaled his will to continue cooperating with the People’s Republic.
The trip came unannounced. Huang showed a first photo in a group of people. In another picture, the 62-year-old could be seen in a room with the President of the Council to promote international trade in China, Ren Hongbin.
The visit should be in the sign of the customs dispute between US President Donald Trump and Beijing. In the course of the trade conflict, tightened restrictions for deliveries from AI chips to China brought the semiconductor giant at a loss of billions. The company based in Santa Clara, California, will record a load of $ 5.5 billion in connection with inventory and purchase commitments.
Already under Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden, the USA created hurdles for the sale of the most modern high -performance chips to China. Nvidia could therefore only deliver a slimmed -down and slower version called H20 to Chinese companies. But even these chip systems are now under export restrictions, as Nvidia had announced.
