Handwritten letter
The investigation began in April 2021. In June 2022 the police services were intervened and numerous house searches and arrests were carried out. In Tongeren, fourteen defendants were first on trial. But Dikke Nordin was not present, just like a port worker who took the cocaine from the cargo ships. Their share was split off in the Tongerse case to take with you during the many legal procedures in Antwerp, in which they will still have to appear.
The Genk seventies René C., who, together with his son Ivo, is seen as the right hand of Dutchman Ralph H., was no longer able to experience the lawsuit. He died in January. At the start of the hearing, his counselor deposited a handwritten letter in which the seventies Mea Culpa hits. « He wrote that letter in the last period of his life. He had nothing to lose anymore, which means he takes on all the responsibility. He states that he has drawn his son in the facts, but I base myself on the file to distribute the roles, » he said.

Money Drops
According to her, those roles are clear. Dikke Nordin ensured that the cocaine got through cargo ships in the port of Antwerp. An ex-harbor worker then called in a colleague to remove the drugs from the containers. Father René and son Ivo, according to the prosecutor, took care of the collection, delivery and payment of the coke on behalf of Ralph H.. That happened in Houthalen-Helchteren, based on Money Drops From a few hundred thousand euros cash each time. In the end, two customers were also linked to the file.
Former professional footballer Davide D., according to the prosecutor commissioned by René C., searched for sheds to hide both cocaine and the money pending the actual transactions. He himself denies his involvement. The former football coach is only talking about great speech. « I was asked to take care of sheds, but I kept it off. I don’t know what the intention was. One time he spoke about a cigarette storage place, the other time it was about coke. I spoke to the mouth to stand on a good leaf, but I never did anything wrong. »
Cannabis plantation
Outside the cocaine shelf, four defendants had to answer for the import, cultivation and sale of cannabis. According to the prosecutor, this was also commissioned by René C. with a couple from Maasmechelen, the investigators discovered a cannabis plantation of 498 harvest plants. A man from Dilsen-Stokkem would sell the harvest. His 28-year-old brother had to answer for the import of thirty kilos of cannabis from Spain. According to the prosecutor, he drove an Audi, equipped with hiding place for drugs, towards the Spanish sun to arrange cannabis district.

His son has to fear for an imprisonment of ten years and a fine of 64,000 euros. The former professional football player risks two years in prison and a fine of 4,000 euros. The other defendants must fear imprisonment between two and nine years and fines of up to 48,000 euros. A work sentence is requested for one of the brothers who traded cannabis.
Fetish
Ralph H. confesses that he was involved in trading the coke, but denies that he took on a leading role. “The Public Prosecution Service has developed some fetish to begging my client a leader role. But is that perception correct? René cannot tell it anymore, even fat Nordin is not here. So someone has to do the bean ferrets. Even if you have all the data, one still has to interpret it. Everything can be explained perfectly within my client’s duties, « said his counselor, Master Ruben van Herpe, who asks a milder punishment with Master Patrick Waeterinckx.
Master Bert Partens states that his client Ivo C. is not at the same level as his father was within the organization and is therefore incorrectly seen as the right hand of Ralph H. « A general is not seen on the battlefield, one sees only the soldier. The Public Prosecution Service himself says that he was the most risk. So I don’t call that someone at the level of decision, » it sounds. Partoens asks a prison sentence with delay under conditions.
On Friday, the case will be continued to let the other counselors speak. The verdict will follow in a month.
