University of Primorska, if the process is successful, soon receives medical studies
The University of Primorska Senate accepted an accreditation application in the middle of the session a new one -of -a -kind Medicine Master’s Degree Program, which will now be forwarded to the Council of the National Agency for Quality in Higher Education (NAKVIS). If accreditation is successful, study for first students is expected to come to life in the 2027/2028 academic year.
According to the university, they plan to enroll between 20 and 30 students in the first year of the program, and the long -term goal is 100 study positions. The study will last for six years and will be held at the Faculty of Health Sciences, which will also implement the program.
For the needs of a new study, medicine intends to build a new, multi -storey facility near the Izola General Hospital, which will offer about 6,000 square meters of usable area. In the preparation of the program, they connected with health institutions in the region, which have already expressed interest in cooperation and the status of learning bases.
The procedures for the introduction of studies are currently underway according to the planned timelines, the University of Primorska stressed. At Nakvis, they will first check the completeness of the application, and then a group of experts who will prepare a report on the fulfillment of the accreditation criteria will be appointed. The whole process is expected to be completed within a few months.
The University also emphasizes that increasing the enrollment points will gradually, in accordance with the development of staff, infrastructure, research support and partner healthcare facilities, to ensure high quality of education and practical training of future doctors.
