Understandable that people protest the bill

Hanna Katrín Friðriksson, Minister of Industry, understands that people protest the bill on amendments to the Fishing Fee Act as it involves a significant increase in fishing fees.

Hanna Katrín took part in a panel on morning The Confederation of Employers (SA) regarding the impact of fishing fees and other taxes on companies.

« People would not be in the process of protecting their interests if not objected. However, we have not always agreed on the grounds of that criticism and there may be the knife in the cow.

Iris Róbertsdóttir, mayor of Westman Islands and chairman Association Fisheries municipalities, said at the meeting that there had not been enough consultation with municipalities in the drafting of the bill.

Hanna Katrín, on the other hand, disagrees with Iris and believes that the consultation has been sufficient. « Both the drafting of the bill and now.
